Uber Technologies announced on Monday that it has reached an agreement with Mubadala Investment Company, Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund, to acquire the delivery operations of Turkish rapid-delivery start-up Getir — the ride-hailing giant’s latest effort to expand its food-delivery presence in the Middle East.
The deal, subject to regulatory approval, covers Getir’s entire delivery portfolio in Türkiye, including food, grocery, retail and water delivery. Under the agreement, Uber will pay USD 335 million in cash for 100% of Getir’s food-delivery business and invest a further USD 100 million for a 15% stake in its grocery, retail and water units. Full acquisition of the remaining delivery portfolio is expected in the coming years, subject to performance conditions.
Uber consolidates Türkiye’s delivery market
The Getir purchase follows Uber’s USD 700 million deal for an 85% stake in Turkish delivery platform Trendyol Go in May 2025. After the deal closes, expected in the second half of 2026, Uber plans to integrate the two platforms so that Getir users can access Trendyol Go restaurants through the Getir super-app and Trendyol Go customers can access Getir’s grocery delivery.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said: “With a dynamic digital economy and an engaged consumer base, Uber is committed to investing in Türkiye for the long term.”
