Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade has extended restrictions on the used-car market — including the “6 months–6,000 km” rule and the ban on ads with unusual prices — until 1 July 2026.
The requirement to hold a high-school diploma to apply for a trade licence (authorisation certificate) has also been temporarily lifted. The “Regulation Amending the Regulation on the Trade of Motor Land Vehicles”, prepared by the Ministry of Trade, came into force upon publication in the Official Gazette.
Which vehicles are covered?
Under the regulation, those trading in used vehicles may not, before 1 July 2026, directly or indirectly market or sell motorcycles, cars or off-road vehicles before six months have passed since first registration and at least 6,000 kilometres have been driven.
Restrictions on unusually priced ads continue
The ban on offering and marketing used cars through ads priced above the manufacturer’s or official distributor’s recommended retail price of the day has also been extended until 1 July 2026.
Meanwhile, for businesses with a tax registration or chamber membership, the high-school diploma requirement has been temporarily removed for authorisation certificate applications submitted by 1 April 2026.
