Strong first-half sales growth

Nintendo announced on Tuesday that it has raised its current fiscal-year sales forecast for the new Switch 2 console from 15 million to 19 million units.

The decision followed a 110% rise in first-half sales, driven mainly by the new console’s better-than-expected performance. The Kyoto-based games giant also raised its operating profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2026 by 16% to ¥370 billion (about USD 2.45 billion), signalling confidence in sustained demand during the year-end shopping season.

Switch 2 beats expectations

Launched on 5 June 2025, the Switch 2 had sold more than 10.36 million units worldwide by 30 September — far faster than the original Switch over the same period.

In the first half of the fiscal year, Nintendo’s net sales rose 110.1% to ¥1.1 trillion and operating profit increased 19.5% to ¥145.1 billion. The Switch 2 costs USD 450 — 50% more than the original Switch — yet demand remains very strong in all markets, including the US, Europe and Japan.
