Metro İstanbul, part of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, has issued a notice reminding passengers of the new rules on carrying luggage on the metro.
According to the notice:
- Luggage weighing more than 30 kg or larger than 120×60×50 cm will not be allowed into stations or trains. Large camping backpacks also count as luggage.
- Each passenger may carry only one large suitcase plus one cabin-size bag or one small or medium backpack.
- Passengers entering with more than one suitcase will be charged an extra fee equal to one trip fare.
The aim of the rules is to maintain comfort, safety and order in metro stations and carriages.
