Türkiye’s 2030 higher education roadmap focuses on quality, digital transformation, international reputation, innovation and employment-oriented education to make Turkish universities globally competitive.

Launching a comprehensive plan to transform its higher education system, Türkiye has unveiled the “Turkish Higher Education Roadmap to 2030”. The strategic document was presented by Erol Özvar, president of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), at an official meeting in Ankara. With a comprehensive, measurable and action-based approach, the roadmap aims to turn Turkish universities into global models of academic and research excellence by 2030, emphasising quality, innovation, digitalisation and international competitiveness.

The plan is the result of a series of regional meetings in Ankara, Diyarbakır, Niğde, İzmir and Istanbul, at which stakeholders reviewed the current state of higher education and set key priorities: improving quality, accessibility, efficiency, excellence, internationalisation, digital transformation and employment-based education. Based on these meetings, YÖK has drawn up a comprehensive action plan built on four strategic pillars:

  1. Quality-based process management and leadership
  2. Digital transformation and data-driven management
  3. National and international reputation and visibility
  4. Entrepreneurial and innovative universities
