On 27 and 28 September Türkiye will host a national cinema festival during which film lovers can watch films for a symbolic TRY 80 (about USD 2).

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism said the scheme will run in 80 cities and nearly 1,500 cinemas. The aim is to boost cinema attendance, which has faced challenges in recent years due to rising costs and competition from online platforms. Birol Güven, the ministry’s director general of cinema, said in a statement: “Films are best experienced on the big screen. This is a valuable opportunity to taste the magic of the silver screen.”

Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the festival is part of broader efforts to strengthen the country’s cultural calendar and revive the shared experience of watching films together. It is expected to breathe new life into cinemas across Türkiye, from big cities to small towns.
