Turkish Airlines, Türkiye’s flag carrier, has announced plans for a large purchase of new Boeing aircraft in line with its growth targets.

In a filing with Borsa Istanbul on 26 September, the airline said it had decided to buy 75 Boeing 787-9 and 787-10 aircraft and had concluded negotiations with Boeing for 150 737-8/10 MAX aircraft. Under the agreement, Turkish Airlines will place 50 firm orders and 25 options for 787-9 and 787-10 aircraft, to be delivered between 2029 and 2034. These modern, fuel-efficient aircraft are designed especially for long-haul international flights.

The airline is also negotiating with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace for engines, spare parts and maintenance services for these aircraft. Separately, Turkish Airlines confirmed it had successfully concluded talks to buy 150 737-8/10 MAX aircraft — 100 firm orders and 50 options — and will place the formal order once talks with engine supplier CFM International are finalised.

Turkish Airlines currently operates one of the world’s largest flight networks. Its fleet reached 501 aircraft by the end of August 2025, up from 462 a year earlier, and its destinations have increased from 349 to 353.
