Every hotel overlooking the Bosphorus enjoys striking views of boats gliding along the water and the Asian side of Istanbul across the strait.

But few hotels play a role in the city’s buzzing nightlife. The newly opened Alie Istanbul, the second hotel owned by the international group Paris Society, fills that gap. Currently in soft-opening, with an official opening on 1 October, it combines historic authenticity with contemporary design.

The 600-year-old buildings of a historic pier on the Golden Horn have been brought back to life through full restoration and modern design. The hotel has 122 rooms and suites across four buildings — from “Castle House” rooms with centuries-old stone walls, Turkish textiles and rugs and 7-metre ceilings, to duplex suites with fireplaces and private gardens. In contrast, the “Atelier” suites feature glass walls and golden details, while the three-bedroom Heritage Villa, more than 900 square metres and built in a former 600-year-old bathhouse, now has a private hammam, wine cellar, boat with personal captain, butler and even helicopter transfers.

The wellness experience doesn’t end there. A 4,000-square-metre spa has replaced the historic hammam, offering marble baths, a contrast-therapy area with a Russian banya, cold plunge pools, cryotherapy, oxygen therapy and modern biohacking services. At the “Longevity Clinic”, guests can follow a personalised health path, from genetic and epigenetic screening to heart, gut, skin and microbiome assessments.

There are also two pools: a beach pool at the “Swim Club” and an Olympic pool for athletes.
